Teacher Kerry

Kerry Marhefka is a teacher living in Hollywood, CA. She is certified in Pennsylvania Family and Consumer Sciences, California Home Economics, and Child and Infant CPR. She is also currently working towards her CA English and Multiple Subjects credentials.

Kerry went to the teacher's college of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She completed her student teaching at the prominent Bethel Park High School. She moved to California to pursue her dream of being part of the progressive education movement.

So far, she has been a lead teacher at a Reggio Emilia preschool; a team teacher at My Gym Children's Fitness Center; a substitute teacher for a creative school in Pasadena; and she was honored for her contribution as a long-term kindergarten substitute at a premiere Jewish day school in Los Angeles.

Kerry has enjoyed her time volunteer-teaching at the Hearts of Los Angeles (Hola), and begins teaching at a developmental private school in September 2008.

Kerry honors Gardner, Piaget, Emilia, Montessori, and Dewey's teaching philosophies. However, her background in creative arts allows her to add her own flair to curriculum.

Along with teaching, Kerry looks forward to obtaining a coaching certificate, as well as creating and maintaining her own projects to support her educational endeavors.
